SELC in Tennessee

The forests of the Cumberland Plateau stand as one of Tennessee's most valuable and ecologically diverse resources. The Plateau harbors the largest expanse of unfragmented, privately owned forestland in the South. But despite its national and global significance, it is also the largest American landscape that lacks a comprehensive conservation strategy. Second home development, mining, and unsustainable forestry practices are posing significant threats to this extraordinary region.

SELC has a history of success in protecting Tennessee's environment. Our Tennessee conservation team includes eleven attorneys focusing all or part of their time on the conservation needs of this state. We serve Tennessee from our satellite office in Sewanee, TN and our Regional Headquarters in Charlottesville, VA.
